Exports Maintain Positive Growth
Despite global economic volatility and geopolitical tensions, Vietnam’s export and import activities continue to show strong growth momentum, affirming its rising position in international trade.According to the General Statistics Office, total trade turnover in the most recent month reached USD 83.06 billion, up 0.9% compared to the previous month and 16% year-on-year. Cumulatively, in the first 8 months of 2025, total trade turnover reached USD 597.93 billion, up 16.3% year-on-year, with exports increasing by 14.8% and imports by 17.9%.
Exports in the most recent month reached USD 43.39 billion, with the foreign direct investment (FDI) sector contributing the largest share at USD 34.22 billion, up 2.6% compared to the previous month. In the first 8 months, 29 products recorded over USD 1 billion in export turnover, with 7 products surpassing USD 10 billion, accounting for 67.8% of total exports. Notably, processed industrial goods continued to dominate with USD 271.06 billion, representing 88.6% of total exports.
Imports in the most recent month reached USD 39.67 billion, down 0.8% compared to the previous month, but still up 17.7% year-on-year. In total, imports for the first 8 months hit USD 291.97 billion, with the FDI sector accounting for USD 197.2 billion, up 25.1%.Significantly, the agriculture – forestry – fishery sector posted robust growth, with export turnover of USD 45.37 billion, up 12% year-on-year. Products such as coffee and cashew nuts recorded remarkable increases in export value.

Determination to Achieve Export Target for 2025
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that to meet the 12% export growth target in 2025, Vietnam must sustain monthly exports of at least USD 37.9 billion. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue implementing support measures for enterprises, expanding into new markets, and diversifying raw material sources. These efforts are expected not only to help Vietnam export 2025 reach its targets but also to contribute to achieving over 8% economic growth this year.
